The Department of Poultry Science, PGIVAS, Akola has organized a five days training program on “COMMERCIAL POULTRY FARMING” for 48 farmers and unemployed youth during 16th to 20th July, 2019.

The Department of Poultry Science, PGIVAS, Akola has organized a five days training program on “COMMERCIAL POULTRY FARMING” for 48 farmers and unemployed youth during 16th to 20th July, 2019. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. V.B. Bhojne, Regional Joint Commissioner of Animal Husbandry, Amravati. Dr. V.D. Aher, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola acted as the Chairman of the inaugural program. Dr.S.J.Manwar, Head, of the department of poultry science welcomed the guests and gathering and briefed about the farmer’s training program. During his inaugural speech, Dr. Bhojne guided the farmers on poultry farming and asked them to take up commercial poultry farming. Dr. Aher guided the farmers to start new poultry farming units and assured them about the technical guidance in all a aspects of poultry farming to the new entrepreneurs.

During five days training programme Dr. S.J.Manwar, Dr. S.P. Waghmare, Dr. Prajakta Kuralkar, Dr. D.M. Badukale, Dr. Mayura Gole, Dr. K.Y. Deshpande, Dr. R.S.Ingole, Dr. Manjusha Patil, Dr. Girish Panchbahi, Dr. P.R. Rathod and Dr. P.S. Bankar guided farmers and covered all important aspects of commercial poultry farming such as breeds, rearing systems, feeding, Hatchery, diseases, biosecurity and economics, etc. The hands on training were also imparted on brooding, fumigation, vaccination, feed formulation and management of birds. The training kit with booklet in Marathi language and other training material was also distributed.

Dr. V.D. Aher, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola presided over as the Chairman of the concluding function. The programme was inaugurated at the hands of the Dr. V.M. Bhale, Honourable Vice-chancellor, Dr. P.D.K.V. Akola. Dr. S.J. Manwar, Head, Dept. of Poultry Science narrated the details of the trainings conducted. Dr Bhale in his speech motivated the farmers to work hard to make poultry farming successful in the region. Guests of Honor, Shri Sanjay Kapadnis, Commissioner, Muncipal council of Akola also guided farmers on poultry farming. Another guest, Krishibhushan Shri. Nathrao Karad also addressed farmers and highlighted the importance of hard work and dedication in his speech. The training certificates were distributed to 48 participants for successful completion of the training program. The programme was conducted by Dr Mayura Gole and concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Gajanan Langote.
