PGIVAS, Akola has organized a five days residential training programmes on "COMMERCIAL POULTRY FARMING".

The Department of Poultry Science, PGIVAS, Akola has organized a five days residential training programmes on "COMMERCIAL POULTRY FARMING" for 49 including 45 women farmers of Akola district during 18th - 22nd July, 2016. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. V.M.Bhale, Director Instruction & Dean, Dr.P.D.K.V., Akola, Dr.S.J.Manwar welcomed the guests and gathering and briefed about the farmer's training program. Dr Bhale in his inaugural speech narrated the problems faced by the farmers and urged them to take up agriculture based subsidiary source of income. Dr. R.N.Dhore, Associate Dean (i/c), PGIVAS, Akola acted as the Chairman of the inaugural program and explained the need to start new poultry farming units.
 
During five days training programme Dr R.N.Dhore, Dr. S.V.Kuralkar, Dr. S.P. Waghmare, Dr. S.J.Manwar, Dr. Ranjit Ingole, Dr. Mayura Gole, Dr. M.R. Wade and Dr. K.K. Khose guided farmers on breeds, rearing systems, feeding management, Hatchery, diseases, vaccination and biosecurity, Economics, quail and contract framing, etc. The hands on training were provided to the participants on brooding, fumigation, vaccination, feed formulation, rearing of poultry and dressing, etc. An educational tour was also organized for trainee farmers to broilers farm of 14000 capacity at Ambikapur to get acquainted with the actual working of the farms. The beneficiary farmers were provided with a training kit consisting educational material like booklet in Marathi language on "Vyavasayeek Kukkut palan" and "Parasatil shastrokt Kukkutpalanat" and other training material.
 
At the end of the five days training programs the certificates were distributed to the 49 participants including 45 women farmers at the hands of the Agriculture superintendent, Akola and Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola. The PGIVAS Staff namely Dr. S. G. Deshmukh, Dr. S. S. Chepte and Dr. M.F.M.F. Siddiqui have contributed towards the successful organization of the training program.
