ORGANIZATION OF TWO RESIDENTIAL TRAINING PROGRAMS ON “COMMERCIAL POULTRY FARMING” DURING 7-11th AND 15-19th NOVEMBER, 2016 AT RKVY POULTRY TRAINING CENTER PGIVAS AKOLA.

Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna sponsored research project entitled “Establishment of training and demonstration center on commercial poultry farming under MAFSU” is being implemented at Department of Poultry Science, PGIVAS, Akola by Dr. S.J. Manwar as Principal Investigator. Under this project, Poultry Training Center for farmers has been established and training programs on Commercial Poultry Farming are regularly organized. During 7-11th and 15-19th November, 2016 a 10th and 11th training programs were organized at this center. Shri Vijayji Agarwal, President of Standing Committee, Muncipal Council, Akola and Dr. Sharad Bharsakale, Managing Director, Amruta Hatcheries & Shrikripa Poultry Feeds, Amravati were the chief guests for inaugural function.
 
A total of 90 farmers participated in both the training programs. The officers of the Animal Husbandry Department Dr. S.P. Pardey, Dr. M.G. Meshram, Dr. D.G. Patil and Dr. Namrata Babhulkar were also present to guide the farmers and also narrated the various government schemes in their speech. The different aspects of commercial poultry farming viz. breeds, nutrition, housing, health care and vaccination, farm economics, contract farming, quail farming, hatchery management, etc. were covered during five days training program.
 
More emphasis was given on practical oriented hands on trainings on different aspects of poultry farming. Two educational visits on 9th and 18th November, 2016 to different poultry farms viz. broiler and deshi poultry farms and contract poultry farms near Akola were also organized for field exposure and direct interaction with the successful poultry farmers. The certificates were distributed to trainees with the auspicious hands of Dr. N.P. Dakshinkar, Director Instruction and Dean (Vet.), MAFSU, NAGPUR. in the presence of Dr. H.S. Birade, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola, Dr. M.G. Thorat, Extension Co-ordinator and Dr. S.J.Manwar, Head, Department of Poultry Science & Principal Investigator, RKVY, Project. The farmers have expressed their satisfaction over the training programs.
 
Till date, eleven trainings each for 5 days duration viz. 08/03/16 to 13/03/16, 14/03/16 to 18/03/16, 23/05/16 to 27/05/16, 06/06/16 to 10/06/16, 13/06/16 to 17/06/16, 18/07/16 to 22/07/16, 23/08/16 to 27/08/16, 30/08/16 to 03/09/16, , 17/10/16 to 21/10/16, 7/11/16 to 11/11/16 and 15/11/16 to 19/11/16 were successfully organized under the said project. A total of 475 farmers including 100 women farmers participated in the said trainings. All the staff and post graduate students actively participated for successful conduct of all training programmes.
