University Song Played During Inaugural of Farmers Meet on MAFSU Foundation Day
The department of poultry science, PGIVAS, Akola have successfully organized farmer's workshop on 'COMMERCIAL POULTRY FARMING' at RKVY Poultry Training and Demonstration Center on the auspicious occasion of sixteenth university foundation day on 3rd December, 2016. The workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Sharad Bharsakale, Chief Managing Director, Amruta Hatcheries & Foods, Amravati in the august presence of Dr. Ravi Patil, Director, Yashwant Agritech Pvt. Ltd., Jalgaon under the Chairmanship of Dr. H.S. Birade, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola.
During Inaugural speech Dr. S.J. Manwar, Principal Investigator, RKVY Project and Head, Dept. of Poultry Science welcomed the guests and gathering and narrated the importance of organizing the farmers' workshop on the auspicious occasion of the MAFSU foundation day. He also explained the current trends and prospects of commercial poultry farming and guided farmers on pre-requisites to start poultry units. Dr. Bharsakale urged the farmers to take up poultry farming after successful completion of the training and learn themselves to cope up with the ups and downs through experience. He emphasized on forward integration in poultry farming. Dr. Patil delivered power point presentation and described the importance and rearing practices recommended for successful farming of Satpuda Deshi birds evolved by them.
Dr. D.H. Rekhate, Ex-Head, Dept. of Animal Nutrition, PGIVAS, Akola motivated the farmers to take up poultry farming as a subsidiary source of income. Dr. S.G. Mode, Ex-Head, Dept. of Veterinary Medicine, PGIVAS, Akola delivered power point presentation on common diseases of poultry and their prevention. He urged the farmers to take appropriate measures to prevent the diseases on poultry farms as prevention is always better than cure. Dr. V. P. Pathak Professor & Head, Dept. of Veterinary Pathology, PGIVAS, Akola during his power point presentation thoroughly explained occurrence of diseases, their quick diagnosis and measured to be adopted to maintain good health and enhance poultry production.
As the feed cost accounts for about 70-75 % of the total cost of poultry production, Dr. R.N. Dhore, Ex- Professor & Head, Dept. of Animal Nutrition, PGIVAS, Akola emphasized on the balanced feed formulations and adequate feeding of birds to keep nutritional deficiency diseases away and to increase growth rate and egg production in birds. Farm demonstrations on vaccination, brooding, de-beaking (low-cost farmer friendly method), etc. were also conducted by the experts. Dr. Birade, Associate Dean and Chairman of the function congratulated the staff of the Dept. of Poultry Science and guided the farmers on this occasion.
During the interactions many farmers have shown their willingness to take up poultry farming and expressed their satisfaction. Dr. Wade, Dr. Khose, Dr. Deshmukh, Dr. Chepte and Junior Veterinary Officer Shri P.L. Thakur actively participated for success of the farmer's workshop. Dr. Mayura Gole along with PG students Dr. Asheer, Dr. Ekta, Dr. Sayali, Dr. Chalge and Dr. Sahu conducted the inaugural program as well as technical sessions.
