The Honorable Prof. A. K. Misra, Vice Chancellor, MAFSU, Nagpur along with Dr. N.P. Dakshinkar, DI & Dean (Vet.), MAFSU, Nagpur visited Poultry Training and Demonstration Center, PGIVAS, Akola on 20th January, 2017. A project sponsored by Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) on “Establishment of training and demonstration center on commercial poultry farming under MAFSU” is being implemented at Department of Poultry Science, PGIVAS, Akola. The above mentioned training centre has been established by creating the facilities like Farmer’s training hall cum poultry museum, Feed mill and Poultry dressing units, Commercial layer shed, Hatchery unit, Automatic drinking, semi-automatic feeding and brooding etc. for hands on trainings on ‘commercial poultry farming’ for farmers.
 
Also, for strengthening of training center Audio-visual aids, charts, LED TV, CCTV cameras, Training hall furniture and RO water purifier system were also procured. For biosecurity purpose compound wall constructed. For rearing of more birds for training and demonstration purpose the old sheds has been renovated. Till date, 13 residential training programmes of 5 days duration on “COMMERCIAL POULTRY FARMING” for 600 farmers including 150 women farmers of Akola district were organized.
 
Training kits containing two booklets in Marathi language on “Vyavasayeek Kukkut Palan” and “Parasatil Shastrokt Kukkutpalanat”, folder and writing pads were distributed to all trainee farmers. Educational tours were also organized for trainee farmers to modern farms to boost up trainee farmers to set up their own poultry units. The Honourable Vice- Chancellor was at Akola on 20.01.2017 to inaugurate the clinical case conference organized by PGIVAS, Akola.
 
During his visit to poultry training and demonstration center Dr. H.S. Birade, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola and PI of project Dr. S.J. Manwar narrated the progress of the project work conducted till date. The dignitaries appreciated the efforts taken by the staff for creating the facilities and imparting training to about 600 farmers on poultry farming for the socioeconomic upliftment of the farmers of the region.
