ORGANIZED TWO RESIDENTIAL FARMER’S TRAININGS ON “COMMERCIAL POULTRY FARMING” AT RKVY POULTRY TRAINING CENTER, PGIVAS, AKOLA.

Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna sponsored research project entitled “Establishment of training and demonstration center on commercial poultry farming under MAFSU” is being implemented at Department of Poultry Science, PGIVAS, Akola by Dr. S.J. Manwar as Principal Investigator. Poultry Training Center for farmers has been established and training programs on Commercial Poultry Farming are regularly organized under this project. A 14th and 15th batch of training programs were organized during 31 January to 4 February, 2017 and 14 - 18 February, 2017 at this center. A total of 105 farmers participated in both the training programs.
 
The different aspects of commercial poultry farming viz. breeds, nutrition, housing, health care and vaccination, farm economics, contract farming, quail farming, hatchery management, etc. were covered during five days training programs. More emphasis was given on practical oriented hands on trainings on different aspects of poultry farming.
 
The concluding session was conducted under the chairmanship of Prof. A.K. Misra, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, MAFSU, Nagpur. In his speech honourable Prof. Misra appreciated Dr. Manwar and staff for imparting training to 600 farmers successfully. He urged the farmers to make all possible efforts to start poultry rearing activity as it has got advantages over all other livestock species.
 
The certificates were distributed to trainees with the auspicious hands of Prof. A.K. Misra, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, MAFSU, Nagpur in, Dr. N.P. Dakshinkar, Director Instruction and Dean (Vet.), MAFSU, NAGPUR and Dr. D. B. Sonkusale, Chief Executive Officer, Maharashtra Livestock Development Board, Akola in the presence of Dr. H.S. Birade, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola, senior professor Dr. M.G. Thorat and Dr. S.J.Manwar, Head, Department of Poultry Science & Principal Investigator, RKVY, Project.
 
A booklet in Marathi on ‘Common Diseases of Poultry and their Treatment’ was also released at the hands of the Prof. A.K. Misra, Hon. Vice- Chancellor, MAFSU, Nagpur for the benefit of the farmers. All the dignitaries guided the farmers on the occasion. Dr. Dakshinkar narrated that there is a huge demand for chicken in Vidarbha which comes from neighbouring states. The trainee must take advantage of this demand and assured constant support to new entrepreneurs. The Chairman, MLDB Dr. Sonkusale shared a success story of Mr. Devendra Bhoyar of Yavatmal who has initiated from 500 birds and now handling about 2 lakh broilers successfully in the region. The farmers have expressed their satisfaction over the training programs.
